Introducing our new Abridge Legal Practices Health Assessment (ALPHA) Score service!
What Is an ALPHA Score?
Our ALPHA Score is a tool designed to give small business owners a high level assessment of the legal documentation used in their business. We assess your company’s overall legal health in these 5 critical areas:
- Business structure and governance
- Commercial contracts
- Employment
- Intellectual Property
- Financing Documents
Through a series of questions and a high level review of your company’s existing documents, we identify areas of strength and areas for improvement in your existing legal documentation. Our assessment scorecard takes into account not just whether certain documentation exists, but its overall quality, as well as the frequency at which it is reviewed and updated. We report our findings in a confidential summary report and provide an overall assessment grade to you.
how will An Alpha Score help my business?
In our experience, many small business owners have a sporadic relationship with a legal advisor (or no relationship at all) and therefore operate under the working assumption that there are gaps in key aspects of their legal documentation. Even with the psychological weight of wondering “Is my business legally protected enough?”, trying to assess what is missing, how important those missing pieces are, and how to make things better can be overwhelming and the starting point is not always obvious.
Our ALPHA Score is designed to meet two objectives —
- First, we want to give business owners peace of mind about the things that they are doing well from a legal risk and mitigation standpoint.
- Second, if any areas are identified as needing improvement, we offer suggestions for steps that can be taken to improve legal documentation, and thus the ALPHA Score. By seeing the assessment in each of these 5 areas, business owners can prioritize their legal budget to focus on areas needing the most improvement.
In addition to giving business owners a real-time check on their company’s legal health, most business owners will be looking to sell their business or bring on a new investment partner at some point in the future. Our ALPHA Score is a helpful tool in getting and staying ready for a formal due diligence review so that there’s no rush to clean up years of legal documentation disorder before a significant transaction.
how much does the ALPHA Score service cost?
Our current price for this service is $800. Payment is due in advance and is non-refundable.
How long does it take to get an ALPHA Score?
The total time from start to finish will depend on how quickly you complete our questionnaire and provide us with the documents that we request for review. Once we receive all of the necessary information, you should have your ALPHA Score report in about 7-10 days.
